How does an automatic wire and cable sorter work?
An automatic wire sorter is a peripheral machine connected to the production software. During a product changeover, the system reads the production file, identifies the required part number, and automatically ejects and feeds the correct cable to the sheath pre-stranding machine. It also manages the automatic rewinding of unused wires.
What are the advantages of an automatic selector compared to manual sorting?
The major advantage lies in the complete elimination of the risk of error (100% selection reliability), thereby eliminating cable mix-ups or incorrect part numbers. In addition, the automatic part number change in a fraction of a second (less than 2 seconds) eliminates downtime and ensures a consistent production rate across different operators.
What cross-sections of electrical wires and cables can be handled?
Our distribution equipment covers a wide range of industrial needs, enabling the automated processing of cross-sections ranging from 1.5 mm² to 6 mm² on compact models, and up to 35 mm² on our high-capacity sorters.
Are these yarn sorters compatible with my existing cabling equipment?
Yes, our wire and cable selectors are designed for highly flexible integration. They interface with all Mecaspin pre-spinning machines (MS03, MS04, Grande Longueur), while remaining universally compatible with your current equipment, such as pay-offs, spool racks, or “box” systems.
How many wires or wire types can be connected to a single machine?
Depending on the model selected, a unit features 24 to 40 automated lanes. It is also possible to connect multiple sorters to a single production line (up to 3 connected sorters) to achieve a maximum capacity of 48 wires available simultaneously.
