Standalone pre-wiring unit for electrical wiring harness assembly

Background and requirements

The client, an electrical contracting company with more than 300 employees, has historically manufactured its electrical wiring harnesses in-house. It wanted to further automate production in order to reduce human error, smooth production rates, improve workshop management, and make workstations more ergonomic and comfortable.

The company was also looking for a solution capable of interfacing directly with its ERP system to automate production flows.

The solution implemented

A standalone MS04 line with a custom-developed ERP interface was commissioned at the customer’s site, enabling seamless integration without modifying existing internal processes. The solution automates a large proportion of pre-wiring operations while significantly reducing selection and production errors.

Given the issues associated with physical strain, muscular fatigue and musculoskeletal disorders, the automation implemented improves operator comfort. The production management and monitoring tools also provide the production manager with better visibility, enabling them to anticipate and organise workshop activity more effectively.
